Membership

The following shall be eligible for admission as members of the Association; provided that upon coming into force of these new Objectives and Constitution, it shall be a condition of membership that all members shall abide by and be subject to the Constitution herein contained and, provided further that prior to election to
membership any new member shall also abide by a similar undertaking.

Any firm, company or corporation whose office is established in Zimbabwe and whose business consists in the sale or distribution of pharmaceutical and/or veterinary products as later defined, and who is either the proprietor or the manufacturer of such products and provided that such products are sold or 3 distributed under the name or trade mark of such a firm, company o distributed under the name or trade mark of such a firm, company or r corporation

Any firm , company or corporation established outside Zimbabwe or any wholly owned Zimbabwean subsidiary thereof whose business consists in the sale and the distribution of pharmaceutical and /or veterinary products as later defined and whi ch is either the proprietor or manufacturer of such products and provided that such products are sold or distributed under the name or trademark of such firm, company or corporation and provided also that such firm, company or corporation has a person resi dent in Zimbabwe who is in the direct employ of such firm, company or corporation and is duly authorised to attend meetings and to vote on behalf of such concern.

Any firm, company or corporation whose office is established in Zimbabwe which is the sole a gent for the whole of Zimbabwe for a manufacturer or manufacturers of ethical pharmaceutical and/or veterinary products provided that such manufacturer/ manufacturers is/are not himself/themselves a member or members of the Association and provided furthe r that irrespective of the number of agencies held such firm, company or corporation shall pay only one subscription and shall be entitled to be represented by only one person and to one vote only at all meetings of the Association, unless holding a valid proxy or proxies to vote on behalf of another or other members of the Association. No subsidiary of any firm, company or corporation admitted to membership under this clause shall, even if eligible under any previous clause, be admitted to membership of th e Association.

That the executive committee shall be empowered to admit to membership any firm, company or corporation allied to the pharmaceutical or veterinary professions.

A candidate for membership shall be proposed by a member and seconded by another member and the election to membership shall be decided upon by a majority vote of the executive committee.

No applicant shall be admitted as a member of the Association except at a meeting of the executive.

At least seven day’s notice shall be given to the Executive Committee to elect such a person.

The new member shall on being informed of election to memberships name in writing to the secretary the person who is the authorised representative of that firm or company to attend and vote at meetings (herein after referred to as a “principal” member of the association) and shall also name the alternate who may act for the principal member in his absence.

For purposes of this Constitution a pharmaceutical or veterinary product shall comply with all the following requirements:

The manufacturer shall fully and openly disclose the formulae on the label of every such product in accordance with current legislation

That it is the intension of the manufacturer that the product shall be distributed through professional channels.

That information concerning the uses of the product shall be issued through professional channels.
